I do not attempt to recreate or portray reality as we see it. I want to create something beyond that. My aim is to make people see and remember at the same time as I want them to dream and forget.
In my works I explore the concepts of identity, belonging, weakness/strength and illusion versus reality, as well as a wide range of emotions. Therefore I don't portray people as people. I am interested in the human body as a symbol for an action or an emotion - and I am more interested in portraying human behaviour with all its truths and lies, than just in specific persons.
I am largely inspired by literature, music and other cultural aspects as well as political issues such as socially accepted gender roles and feminist issues, and take special interest in the darker side of photography, such as propaganda and distortion of reality.
